I am interested in how technologies have helped students’ problem solving. I have been actively involved in developing and teaching an extra-curricular robotics and coding program, offered in libraries and learning centers. Although I observed a proportion of students in these programs demonstrating significant improvements in engagement, more research is needed to investigate the contributions of technologies to mathematical problem-solving.
Sounds good, Ting! Think about which kinds of technologies you will include. Is technology in this view only electronic technology? (Is a pencil considered technology? What about a blackboard -- or function notation, or a particular spoken language?) You may want to set some boundaries around what you are interested in studying. I'd love to introduce you to McLuhan & McLuhan's ideas from their influential 1980 book, Laws of Media, if this would be helpful in your analysis...
